Quaker Consortium Students

FALL 2020 UPDATE

Due to campus restrictions related to coronavirus, the Quaker Consortium program has been suspended for the fall 2020 semester.

The Quaker Consortium is a reciprocal agreement between the University of Pennsylvania, Bryn Mawr College, Haverford College and Swarthmore College honoring the shared Quaker heritage and academic excellence of these institutions. Students matriculated at Quaker Consortium institutions may take classes in the fall and spring terms at any of the other member institutions, within certain regulations. Reciprocal program information for current Penn students is available on Penn's College of Arts & Sciences website.

Information for students from Bryn Mawr, Haverford and Swarthmore Colleges

To learn which courses you are eligible for and when you can take classes through the Consortium, please download the 2019-2020 Quaker Consortium Student Guide (PDF). For information on how to register for Penn classes as a Quaker Consortium student, contact your home school Registrar's Office.

Summer sessions are not subject to the agreement, but courses are available through Penn Summer. If you are an alumnus or alumna of any of the Quaker Consortium schools, then you are eligible for the same privileges at the College of Liberal and Professional Studies (LPS) as a Penn graduate. LPS offers alumni expedited admission to undergraduate-level courses at Penn and waives the application fee. Visit the Penn Alumni page for more information.

Post-enrollment checklist

  1. Setup PennKey and Password
    You will receive your PennKey setup code via mail within 5-7 business days of your record being created. If you have not received a PennKey setup code within that time frame, you should contact pennkey@isc.upenn.edu.
  2. Create School of Arts and Sciences email address and update directory
    As a School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) student, you will create an email address based on your PennKey. For example, if your PennKey is "bfranklin," your email address will be "bfranklin@sas.upenn.edu." This is the address that is entered for you in the Penn directory and is the address that your professors and others at Penn will use to communicate with you. You can find directions on how to get started setting up your email by visiting SAS computing. An alternative to setting up a Penn email address would be to add another existing email address to your Penn Directory listing.
  3. Obtain Your PennCard
    PennCard is the official University of Pennsylvania identification for students, faculty, and staff. The PennCard provides access to University facilities and services, including the library. All currently enrolled students of the University of Pennsylvania are eligible to have a PennCard. To obtain a PennCard, bring a valid form of photo ID (driver's license, passport, etc.) to the PennCard Center, located on the 2nd floor of the Penn Bookstore (3601 Walnut Street).
