Anna Shipp

Lecturer, Master of Environmental Studies

Anna Shipp is a social impact and sustainability leader with more than a decade of experience integrating equitable economic opportunity, climate action, and community well-being. She has served as a principal policy associate at the Urban Institute, where she designed and directed a complex, multi-million-dollar initiative that provided strategic advising, technical assistance, and responsive research to city, philanthropic, and nonprofit leaders across the US. By translating research into practice, she helped strengthen partners’ capacity to simultaneously improve economic, social, and environmental outcomes in place. She has also served as executive director of the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia, where she led the organization’s work to empower diverse independent businesses to do well by doing good; advance industries critical to a just, green, and thriving economy; and advocate for an economic ecosystem that serves community needs, shares wealth, and protects the planet.

Anna is grounded in both the social and physical sciences. She has a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Temple University and a Master of Environmental Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.
