Associate Director, Master of Behavioral and Decision Sciences

Carter E. Timon is the associate director of the Master of Behavioral and Decision Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania and former social science director at CHILD USA, a national think tank for child maltreatment prevention. His work has been published in Anthropological Theory, Signs and Society, and BMJ Open, among others. His current research interests include (primarily non-linguistic) semiotics, arts in technology (and vice versa), and the anthropology of science.

Carter teaches a course examining how disparate academic disciplines describe human behavior and how those descriptions change based on the constraints and affordances of each discipline’s chosen research methods. He earned his Master of Behavioral and Decision Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania.
