Course Description
Religious liberty issues permeate many public policy arenas including public health, women’s health, children’s rights vs. parental rights, land use, and equity issues based on race, gender, sexual orientation, and others. These can be sensitive and difficult—but fascinating—issues for those working to improve the larger public good through sound public policy. This course, which is taught by Prof. Marci Hamilton, who is one of the United States’ leading experts on religion and the law, will take students through the constitutional and statutory foundations, the areas of conflict, and the relevant current political science and legal theories.
The course will consist of a combination of once-a-week live Zoom sessions on Monday evenings and four intensive Saturdays (1/15, 2/19, 3/19, 4/23) from 9:30 am - 5:30 pm.
